Brenda began painting as a child and has worked in all paint types, but her first love has always been oils. She received her training as an oil painter at SouthGate Studio in Franklin, Tennessee. She studied still life painting with Pat Thompson, a member of The Portrait Society of America and the Cecilia Beau Forum and portrait painting with Jody Thompson, a Finalist in the 2013 Salon International Show.
After receiving a degree in Commercial Art from Middle Tennessee State University, Brenda worked as a graphic designer for TSC Industries. While raising her family, she designed CD packaging as a freelance designer. Her passion for creating keeps her experimenting with every medium from sculpture to interior design. In 2009, her interior design work was featured in Nashville Lifestyles magazine.
Brenda’s work is inspired primarily from her own photographs and those of her husband, music photographer Russ Harrington. Her eye for composition, her vision of light and color, and her attraction to shape and design, enables her to create extraordinary paintings.
Brenda and Russ make their home in their combined photography and painting studio in Nashville, Tennessee. They met in the photography lab while in college and continue to collaborate both professionally and personally.
